Meet Alex Pidgeon: the person behind Fluid’s commercial approach

22nd June 2026 By Alex Pidgeon
Our Commercial Director, Alex Pidgeon, oversees our sales and marketing functions, working across our teams to tell our story and build relationships. Here, we sat down with Alex to learn more about his role, what motivates him and his love for travel.

Hi Alex, can you tell us a bit about your role at Fluid?

As Commercial Director, my primary remit is over sales and marketing, but I also support across account management, delivery, resource planning and operations.

What did you do before you came to Fluid?

I didn’t always plan to work in tech! I did a criminology degree at the University of Plymouth then, when I graduated, I went to work for a healthcare indemnity insurance provider for about 10 years.

What's your proudest career and personal achievement to date?

Becoming Commercial Director for Fluid was a major highlight for me. Being able to be a part of the core team that steered the business through a large restructuring and the journey we’ve been on since has been incredibly rewarding.

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?

Ride waves. Don’t stand up against them. There’s no point trying to stem the tide, you’ve got to ride the wave otherwise you’ll get swept away and achieve nothing

What gets you up in the morning apart from your alarm clock?

We’re really focused on growing and maturing Fluid as a business. Building it further into a professionalised business that can grow further over the years to come.

In my private life, it’s my wife and my dog that motivate me.

Do you have any notable hobbies or any facts about you?

When I was a teenager, I was a member of the Youth Parliament. I represented my constituency, Bedford, and I was part of a group of teenagers who became the first people to debate in the House of Commons, other than MPs, in its 800-year history. I got to sit on the green seats and get involved in the debate.

These days, my wife and I love travelling. We try to visit unique destinations to experience other people and cultures. Last year we went to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kenya, Tanzania, the United States, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Colombia.

And we’ve just bought a Land Rover Defender, which we’re planning to renovate.

What was the best place that you visited?

Both my wife and I fell in love with safari. We visited four countries on our honeymoon in Southern Africa and then we went back to Kenya and Tanzania last year. Nothing beats the safari. It’s just a fabulous experience.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

12-ounce ribeye, cooked medium rare, served with very creamy peppercorn sauce, triple-cooked chips, a side of onion rings, garlic mushrooms and peas.
