Candlelighters brings light to families by providing emotional, practical and financial support, and hope, by investing in vital research to improve the lives of children with cancer. 

The have a family support centre, The Square, next to Leeds Children’s Hospital. Candlelighters’ Family Support Workers are in the oncology wards and the hospital clinic giving crucial frontline support for families. Candlelighters’ Cottage is a home away from home for families who travel far to receive treatment at Leeds Children’s Hospital. Candlelighters also provides outreach to support families within their homes and communities, and on trips out and holidays.  

The Leeds Digital Festival Tech4Good Award is for the person, organisation or technology that is delivering positive change for individuals, communities, or charitable work. 

Fluid worked with Candlelighters to build a digital strategy and a roadmap that defined and prioritised the highest value projects. Over 12 months Fluid’s IT directors, IT architects, business analysts, project managers and software developers stepped up to deliver the projects. So far the team’s helped Candlelighters improve their IT infrastructure, security and disaster recover, extend their IT systems’ capabilities, migrate to Office365, and automate and digitalise manual office processes. 

Fluid built a custom mobile app for the family services team which removed 1-2 days a week on manual data entry, enabling them to spend more time with families, and helping the fundraising team too.
