Mental health first aid is on hand at Fluid

Introducing our Mental Health First Aiders
Poppy and Stas are a first point of contact for colleagues who are experiencing mental health issues. And last week Fluid launched the Mental Health and Wellbeing channel where they provide up to date information on support.
Poppy was a mental health first aider in a previous work place, and has just completed her refresher training. Stas will complete his training later this month.
Poppy said: “You’d be surprised how many people don’t feel they have someone to talk to about their mental health, because they don’t want to expose themselves at home or to their friends.
I’m here to listen.
It’s not about saying, ‘I know what you mean’. Because you don’t know. Even if you’ve had anxiety and depression that doesn’t mean you know what they’re experiencing.
Mental health first aid is about listening, noticing key behaviours and signposting to relevant support and guidance. It’s an active role as well because the support that’s out there is always changing, so you need to keep up to date.”
